The Mid-Prairie baseball team opens the class 2A district tournament tonight when they travel to Louisa-Muscatine to take on conference foe West Liberty.
The Golden Hawks enter play tonight with an overall record of 12-18. Mid-Prairie was swept by No. 1 in class 2A Wilton in a River Valley Conference doubleheader their last time out, by scores of 2-1 and 11-1. Adam Schrock leads the Golden Hawks at the plate with a .322 average. Keaton Duwa leads the team with 23 RBI and 27 hits. On the mound Mid-Prairie is led by Schrock who has worked 44 innings with a 4-4 record and 3.16 ERA.
West Liberty comes into tonight with a 4-23 overall record. In their last game the Comets were swept by Iowa City Regina 11-1 and 8-7. Bryce Esmoil leads West Liberty with his .343 batting average and 18 RBI. Justis Dengler leads the Comet pitching staff with a 2-3 record. He has worked 29 innings with a 9.41ERA.
