The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident of a possible impersonation of an officer. On Monday, the Fairfield Police Department received a call about a man driving a Subaru Outback who made an illegal turn in front of witnesses. When they brought it to the attention of the man, he claimed to be an officer with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and flashed them what appeared to be a badge, saying he could give them a ticket. The complainant said they knew most of the law enforcement in the area and the badge wasn’t one they were familiar with. The person in question is a white male in his 50’s with neck-length gray hair and was approximately 6’2” and 185 pounds. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has no deputies or reserves matching that description, and advise anyone who has a similar contact to inform the Jefferson County Law Center at 641-472-4146.
