In the final months before his senior basketball season at Briar Cliff University, Lone Tree alumni Bryan Forbes has decided to go toe-to-toe with multiple Division I basketball players from across the state. This is the 30th year of the Prime Time Basketball League held in North Liberty and Waterloo, and Forbes was among the 60 players selected to participate in this summer’s event. Forbes joined the KCII PM Sports Page this week to discuss his involvement in the league.

Forbes was drafted by the Marion Iron Company under the direction of player coach Matt Gatens. Forbes joined a team featuring University of Iowa basketball players Dom Uhl and Brady Ellingson and University of Northern Iowa players Juwan McCloud and Lincoln Conrey. He told KCII Sports his favorite teammate to play with is William Jewel’s Matt Lassen, a good friend and former AAU teammate.

Forbes is coming off an All-American season for the Briar Cliff Chargers, helping the team to a 32-4 record. Forbes was second on the team in scoring with 13.8 points per game and he led the Chargers in rebounding with 7.8 rebounds per game (280 total rebounds), steals with 69 and blocks with 30.

The Marion Iron Company will lace up their shoes today at the Waterloo Sportsplex, taking on the Westport Touchless Autowash team at 4:30 p.m.
