Drought conditions in Iowa lessened slightly from the week prior in the most recent report from the U.S. Drought Monitor. Now, 44.5% of Iowa is abnormally dry with 17.6% in moderate drought. Last week about 47.1% of Iowa was abnormally dry with 17.9% in moderate drought. Most of southeast Iowa is in moderate drought, including all of Jefferson and Henry counties, and parts of Keokuk, Iowa, Washington and Louisa counties. The most recent report did not include the rain totals from last Wednesday’s severe thunderstorm.
