Purchase of a new police vehicle, a loan for water plant improvements and three special presentations will be discussed and considered at tonight’s Washington City Council meeting. The special presentations include a report from the Washington Municipal Band, consideration of a craft fair on September 10th, and the request for the homecoming parade route and the route for the marching band to the football field. In May, the council authorized the city to apply for a zero percent interest loan through the Iowa Finance Authority and the request was approved, according to a memo from City Administrator Brent Hinson. The loan is a $507,000 planning and design loan for expenses on the water plant and the council tonight is considering a resolution to set a date for a public hearing. Tonight’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. in council chambers.
