A special election to fill the Ward 2 vacancy on the Washington City Council will be held September 20th, but before that a candidate forum will be held. The Washington Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee is hosting the event at the United Presbyterian Church on September 14th.

The public will get a chance to hear from the two candidates who will appear on the ballot – Merle Hagie and Steve Gault. Initially the council was going to appoint a person to fill the term until it expires in December of 2017, but Gault presented a petition to the mayor calling for the special election.
