A Pokemon Extravaganza is being held in Washington on Monday. The event is being held at the Washington Public Library for 1st through 5th grade students. This summer a mobile game called Pokemon Go was released, causing people of all ages to search for the creatures. Austin Kirkey explains the game is like a virtual scavenger hunt that gets people active, because they have to go to different areas to find different creatures and walk kilometers to gain points in the game.
One hot spot for Pokemon in downtown Washington is the library, which is called a Poke-stop. Pokemon is also a card game and was an animated TV show that first aired in the U.S. in 1998. There have also been Pokemon movies released. Registration is required for the extravaganza that begins at 4 p.m.
