The wins continue to come for the No. 6 Lone Tree Lions football team (4-0 overall; 1-0 8-Man District 4). The Lions traveled to Springville Friday for their district opener versus the Orioles (3-1 overall). Lone Tree won the battle of undefeated teams, defeating Springville 30-12.
Senior Drake Hotz led the Lions’ ground attack, accounting for a game-high 111 yards and a ran in a touchdown. Senior Trey Pierson added 75 yards on 11 carries, scoring two touchdowns.
Senior Garrett Boxwell made 8.5 total tackles, including five for loss and two sacks. Lone Tree forced three turnovers, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
The win propels Lone Tree to 4-0 overall. The Lions are set to host the English Valleys Bears (0-3 overall) Friday in Lone Tree’s homecoming football game.
