The race season continues today in Henry County for the Washington Demon cross country squads. The 36th annual Mount Pleasant Cross Country meet will take place on the high school grounds. The two-class meet will feature runners from Cardinal, Central Lee, Columbus, Danville, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Holy Trinity, Keokuk, Lone Tree, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, Notre Dame, Van Buren, WACO, Wapello, Winfield-Mount Union and Wilton.

The Demon cross country teams were last in competition Thursday in Fort Madison. Claire Horak recorded the first top five finish of the season for either squad, placing fourth in the girls’ race with a time of 20:29. Brennan Horak continued to lead the boys’ team, taking 12th place with a time of 18:24.

The varsity races of the Mount Pleasant meet is set to begin at 5:05 p.m. at Mount Pleasant High School.
