A pair of area teenagers have been named Junior Players of the Year in their respective divisions in the Iowa PGA. The annual award is given to Iowa Junior Tour members and they are determined based on points accumulated in the top 15 tournaments throughout the summer. At the end of the season, the players with the most points in their age group are awarded the division title and qualify for the Player of the Year award.

Brock Sobaski, of Brighton, is the boys 14-15 division Player of the Year honoree, earning 5,332.5 points. Sobaski competed in 16 tour events and produced 12 top 10 finishes. His highlights included second place honors at the four-person team and stroke play at Edmundson Golf Course and at the Southeast Iowa Junior at the Preserve on Rathbun Lake.

Washington’s Anna Nacos is the girls 13 and under Player of the Year, earning 8,732.5 points. Nacos played in 19 events, finishing in the top five of each one. She had 13 first place victories, including the Iowa City Junior at Pleasant Valley Golf Course, the Junior Tour Corridor Classic at Hunters Ridge Golf Course, the Junior Tour Metro Classic at AH Bank Golf Course, and the season ending Junior Tour Championship at Copper Creek Golf Course.

The 2016 Iowa PGA Junior Tour Player of the Year award recipients will be honored at the All Star Pro Golf Awards Luncheon October 25, at Riverside Casino and Golf Resort.
