A pair of senior guards helped the Columbus Wildcats girls’ basketball team earn bragging rights over their county rival. The Wildcats traveled to Wapello for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North showdown versus the Arrows (0-1 overall). Bailey Stroud and Shania Boyd combined for 45 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists as Columbus edged Wapello, 58-52.

Stroud began her final high school basketball season by recording a double-double. She scored a team-best 24 points and brought down 12 rebounds. Stroud also assisted on six baskets and swiped two steals. Boyd added 21 points, three assists, and two rebounds. The pair converted 16 of 20 free-throw attempts.

Columbus returns to the floor Tuesday at Highland (2-0).
