The Mid-Prairie boys basketball team had a rough road trip to West Branch Tuesday, falling to the Bears 73-44.
West Branch started out hot from the floor, outscoring the Hawks 22-6 in the first quarter. Caleb Statler had a big first half for Mid-Prairie, posting 14 of the Golden Hawks 16 points as they trailed 40-16 at the break. In the second half the Bears enacted the continuous clock midway through the third quarter and grew their lead to as many as 42 in the second half. Statler led the Golden Hawks with 17 points. With the loss Mid-Prairie is 2-5 going into Christmas break.
