One reason the Keota Eagle boys’ basketball team (6-2) won six of their first eight games this winter is because of the play making ability of Jacob Wickenkamp. The Eagles’ senior guard has dished out 57 assists, 10 more than anyone else in the South Iowa Cedar League.
Wickenkamp has dished out at least five assists in seven different games. He tallied nine assists in victories over Tri-County (85-44) and Iowa Valley (65-45), and in the Eagles’ season-opening loss to Lone Tree (78-76). Keota ranks second in the South Iowa Cedar League East with 130 assists. The Belle Plaine Plainsmen top the division, facilitating on 156 baskets. Wickenkamp ranks fourth on the team with 78 points scored, an average of 9.8 points per game.
The Keota Eagles boys’ basketball team enters the new year on a six-game winning streak. The Eagles resume their season Tuesday, hosting the North Mahaska Warhawks (4-3).
