A senior on the Washington Demon wrestling team celebrated his first adult birthday on the mat this week. Kyle Anderson (126) turned 18 years old on Thursday as the No. 5 Demon wrestling team (17-0) traveled to Fort Madison High School for a Southeast Conference grapple versus the Bloodhounds (2-3). Washington increased their league winning streak to 16 duals with a 54-18 triumph.

Anderson was one of five Washington wrestlers to record a pinfall victory against Fort Madison. In the dual’s 10th match, Anderson took the mat against the Bloodhound’s Dalton Woolever. The grapple lasted 52 seconds into the second period when Anderson was able to bring Woolever to his back. The win was the 133rd of his varsity wrestling career and improved his season record to 20-2. Anderson is currently ranked as the No. 6 wrestler by The Predicament and IAwrestle.

Anderson and the Washington Demon wrestling team is taking part in the annual Gary Curtis Invitational today at Highland High School. Wrestlers from Cascade, Columbus, Highland, Muscatine, New London, Regina, South Tama, Tri-County, West Branch, West Liberty and Wilton will compete in the tournament.
