With a vote of 3-2 the Washington County Board of Supervisors have selected a new county attorney. John Gish is the new Washington County Attorney. He’s been working in the Washington County Attorney’s Office as an assistant for the last year.
KCII News caught up with Gish following the appointment and he shared a little bit about himself: he grew up in Wisconsin and now lives in Keota with his wife, and their two young children. He’s an Army veteran who served in Afghanistan and has been licensed to practice law since 2013. He said, “We really are attached to this community and love working here, and I’m excited to serve the community.” He adds that the time he’s spent in the office will aid in moving forward, as he’s familiar with the cases, staff and area defense attorneys.
Gish fills the office that was vacated when Shawn Showers was appointed by the governor to become a judge. The supervisors had interviewed and considered six candidates for the post.
