The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams will travel to Columbus to take on the Wildcats in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader tonight.
The Iowa Mennonite girls enter the game with an overall record of 0-12. In their last game they fell to the Highland Huskies at home Tuesday by a 63-32 final score. Suzanna Yoder led the way with 14 points. Yoder leads Iowa Mennonite in all major categories including scoring at 19 points per game, fourth in the Superconference, assists with 27 and rebounds with 50.
Columbus enters play tonight with an overall record of 7-7. The Wildcats beat the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves on Tuesday 45-40. Shania Boyd had 23 points to lead the way, Bailey Stroud finished with 16. On the season Boyd leads the Cats in scoring, she is second in the conference and sixth in all of class 2A at 20 points per game. Bailey Stroud leads Columbus and is second in the conference with 78 assists. Angie Byas is the best on the glass for Columbus and sixth in the conference with 100 rebounds on the year.
These two teams met on December 9th with the Wildcats winning 59-42.
The Iowa Mennonite boys enter tonight with an 8-5 overall record. On Tuesday they fell to Highland 54-46. Cole Yoder led the way with 15 points. On the season IMS is led by Nick Yutzy scoring 11 points per game. He also has the team lead and is third in the conference with 63 assists. Mitchell Schmeider leads IMS on the glass with 57 boards.
Columbus comes into tonight with an overall record of 0-14 on the year. In their last game they lost to Winfield-Mt. Union Tuesday 56-46. On the season the Wildcats are led by Carter Colby scoring 14 points per game, seventh in the Superconference. Ruben Paz has dished out 41 assists this year for Columbus, eighth best in the conference. Paz also leads the Wildcats with 58 rebounds on the season.
Iowa Mennonite won the first meeting between these two schools on December 9th 56-29.
