A two-story house in Washington caught fire early Friday. The tan house is in the 600 block of East Washington Street. When KCII News arrived on scene at about 4:45 a.m. smoke was filling the area and flames could be seen coming from the attic space. Firefighters from Washington and Ainsworth Fire Departments worked inside and outside the home and extinguished the flames.
While crews worked, all four lanes of traffic were blocked from 5th Avenue to 7th Avene. The coroner was called to the scene. The State Fire Marshall, Washington County Ambulance, Washington Police Department, Washington County Sheriff Department, and Alliant Energy assisted on scene. KCII News will bring you more information when it becomes official.
