A senior on the Lone Tree Lady Lion basketball team (15-3) reached a scoring milestone Friday. The Lady Lions continued Southeast Iowa Super Conference North action in Louisa County against the Wapello Arrows (9-9). The Lady Lions completed the season sweep of the Arrows, 35-32.
The victory was highlighted by a game-high 18 points from Lone Tree’s Madison Forbes. The performance helped her become the seventh Lady Lions basketball player to score 1,000 points in her career. Forbes has been the leading scorer for Lone Tree the past three seasons. She enters tonight’s game with a career-best 331 points so far this season. She concluded her junior season with 291 points and tallied 227 her sophomore campaign. She recorded 153 points her freshman season, the third most on the squad. Lone Tree has three regular season games remaining.
The Lone Tree Lady Lions have won 15 of their 18 games this winter. Lone Tree resumes competition tonight hosting the Highland Huskies (14-3). The varsity girls’ game is set to tip-off at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.
