Opportunistic defense helped the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (4-12) end a five-game losing streak Tuesday night. As heard live on KCII FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Demons hosted the Davis County Mustangs (3-14) in a non-conference contest. Washington scored 38 points off of 18 steals to run away with a 67-33 victory.
Washington was led in steals by Sarah Nacos with eight while Morgan Brinning swiped five. The Demons had 10 players record at least two points and three Washington players scored in double figures. Nacos led Washington with 16 points. Brinning recorded 12 points, while Kira Ropp added 11. Rebekah Settles led the Mustangs with 12 points.
The victory was the first in two weeks for Washington, improving their overall record to 4-12. The Demon girls’ basketball team returns to the floor Friday night at home versus the Fort Madison Bloodhounds (4-13).
