Southeast Conference basketball took place Friday night at Washington High School. As heard live on KCII FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Washington Demons hosted the Fort Madison Bloodhounds in a league doubleheader. The Demons sent the Bloodhounds back to Lee County with a split.
The Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (5-12) erased a 14 point first half deficit to beat Fort Madison in overtime, 40-34. The Demons, who scored nine points in the first half, outscored Fort Madison 9-3 in the extra period. Sarah Nacos scored a team-best 19 points while Morgan Brinning added eight. Addison Six forced the game into overtime after blocking Amber Dilsaver’s layup as regulation expired. She scored five of the nine points in the extra four minutes. Dilsaver had 19 points to lead Fort Madison.
Three point shooting buried the Washington Demon boys basketball team (5-10) in the nightcap. The Bloodhounds (11-6) converted nine shots from beyond the arc on their way to a 70-53 victory. Jacob Van Osdol led Washington with 12 points while Jack Redlinger added nine. The loss drops Washington’s record to 5-10 overall.
The Washington Demon basketball teams return to the court today hosting the Clear Creek Amana Clippers in a non-conference doubleheader. The varsity girls game will tip off at 3 p.m. with the boys to follow.
