In 26 years the Washington Tree Committee has planted about 10,500 trees locally. At Tuesday’s Washington City Council meeting the tree committee gave their annual report and Andy Dahl sahred Washington was recognized as a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Association for the 26th year in a row. Dahl also presented the committee’s volunteer of the year award to the city’s engineering technician Keith Henkel. Henkel helped get the city’s mapping system up and running, which aided in the citywide tree inventory Dahl completed.
