The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team begins class 2A district play tonight when they host the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons in the opening round of the tournament.

The Golden Hawks enter the tournament with an overall record of 6-16 on the year. The Hawks finished 5-13 in league play, sixth in the River Valley South. In their last game the Golden Hawks fell to the Washington Demons 78-73. Derek Rich led the way with 20 points. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Rich and Caleb Statler each scoring nine points per game. Statler has pulled in a team best 111 rebounds, eighth best in the conference and his 46 blocked shots are best in the RVC. Brad Tornow has the team lead and is fourth in the conference with 66 assists.

Louisa-Muscatine enters tonight with an overall record of 4-17 on the year. The Falcons finished with a 3-14 record in the Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division, taking eighth place. In their last game they beat WACO in the Superconference Shoot Out Friday 60-50, behind 31 points and 14 rebounds from Brady Walker. On the season the Falcons are led by Walker averaging 18 points per game, second best in the Superconference. His 115 rebounds are best on the team and sixth in the Superconference. Gabriel Lowden is best on the team and ninth in the SEISC with 72 assists.
