Property and space needs will be discussed in Washington Tuesday, as the items are on both the agenda for the Washington County Board of Supervisors and the Washington City Council. The supervisors will meet at 9:30 a.m. and the first item on their agenda is consideration of the Board of Health’s recommendation for space needs. In January, the Board of Health recommended a rent to own option for a the former McCleery Calendar Factory building in Washington. Hobart Historic Restoration will be rehabilitating the building and will work with the county so the space suits the needs of Washington County Public Health with additional office space available to other departments or businesses on the second floor. This option would not require a bond referendum to fund the project.
At 5 p.m. the Washington City Council will hold a special meeting with a closed session to consider a public hearing for disposal of property. At last week’s meeting City Administrator Brent Hinson explained an offer had been placed on the former library building, but details were not yet available. Following the special session, the city council will meet at 6 p.m. to discuss the fiscal year 2018 budget.
