The cost share formula was used to calculate the costs for law enforcement in the cities within Washington County and all of the rates increased slightly. The sheriff’s office provides law enforcement services to all of the towns in the county, except the city of Washington, which has its own police department. The contract law costs are figured on the 2016 assessed value, the number of calls for each town over the last five years, and the percent of the population.
