Former Mid-Prairie softball standout Alex Rath made a big impression on the big stage Thursday, in her first start for the Iowa Hawkeye softball team in a contest with Fresno State.

Prior to Thursday, Rath, a freshman, had seen limited action accounting for a run and a stolen base through the team’s first 10 games. Against the Bulldogs, she lined up defensively in right field.

At the plate she was two for three, including an RBI single. To go with her one driven in, Rath also walked and scored once. The Hawkeyes dropped the contest 11-7. Iowa’s overall record now stands at 2-9 on the season.
