The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team dropped a non-conference contest Friday night in Kalona to the West Branch Bears 7-3.
West Branch got on the board with a single run in the third to take a 1-0 lead. IMS answered to take their first advantage of the night with a pair of tallies in the fifth inning. Trailing 2-1, West Branch countered with four runs in the sixth and IMS was unable to erase the deficit down the stretch. At the plate IMS was led by Cole Ours, Nick Yutzy, Cole and Caleb Yoder, Isaiah Swantz and Blake Bontrager all with one hit. Bontrager took the loss on the hill going 5 1/3 innings, allowing four hits, four runs, walking three and striking out one. With the loss IMS is now 1-3 on the year and will travel to Columbus on Monday.
