The Highland softball team continues to impress against much bigger schools as they won both of their games on Saturday in Des Moines for a tournament.

After facing off with Iowa City High earlier in the season and winning in a barn burner, this game was more of a pitcher dual with the Huskies walking away with the 4-3 victory. With the game tied heading into the sixth inning, the Huskies squeaked across one run to seal the win. Abbie Miller led the way going 1-for-3 with three RBI. Megan Hoenig was efficient in the circle once again going six innings of only giving up two runs.

In game two against Waterloo East, the Huskies controlled the whole game to cruise to the 5-0 win. Highland scored four runs in the first two innings and that was all they needed to seal the victory. Murphy Beinhart went 2-for-4 with a double and run. Hoenig and Shalyn Kirk combined for seven shutout innings in the circle.

With the wins, Highland improves to 12-2 on the year. The Huskies get back on the diamond tonight when they travel to league leading Louisa-Muscatine (18-2).
