The Keota City Council discussed the Kewash Nature Trailhead shelter project at their meeting Monday night.
Melinda Eakins from the Visioning Committee of Keota Unlimited presented example designs the city could choose from for a shelter at the Kewash Nature Trailhead “We’re just trying to figure out some kind of a neat looking design, just something unique if we can, to make people remember Keota when they come in.”
Eakins suggested the council survey quotes from material companies, purchase materials from a company, and then take bids for a contractor. Eakins also mentioned that the committee is working on getting bid packages put together for concrete paving in the trailhead’s parking lot and driveway. Eakins says Keota Unlimited also wants to purchase light poles for the area. The trailhead projects have received funding from Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP), the State Revolving Fund, the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, the Wellmark Foundation, and Trees Forever.
