A former Washington City Councilman has died in a rafting accident in Colorado.

Gunnison County Sheriff Rick Besecker tells KCII News that Russ Zieglowsky died Wednesday following a rafting accident. He confirms it was a guided rafting event. Zieglowsky was the only person injured at the time and no foul play is indicated. Besecker states the incident remains under investigation.

Zieglowksy was a councilman in Washington from January, 2006, to August 1, 2016.
