The Mid-Prairie baseball and softball teams received their postseason assignments from the state this week.
The Golden Hawk baseball team landed in class 2A district 10. The Golden Hawks are the No. 3 seed of six teams and will host their first round game Saturday, July 8th in Wellman against Columbus. Mid-Prairie is 13-10 on the year at this point while the Wildcats are 1-17. Other teams in the district with the Golden Hawks include No. 1 seed and No. 9 ranked Iowa City Regina, West Burlington, Central Lee and Van Buren. The winner between the Golden Hawks and Wildcats will advance to play the Regals in the second round.
The district paired within Mid-Prairie’s substate includes No. 1 seed and No. 3 ranked Wilton, Mediapolis, Louisa-Muscatine, Tipton, Wapello and West Branch. The two district champions would face each other in the substate round of the playoffs July 18th at Solon.
The Mid-Prairie softball team will open the class 3A regional tournament at No. 1 seed and No. 7 ranked in class 3A Solon July 5th at 7PM. Other teams in the bracket include Prairie City Monroe, Chariton, Albia, Central Decatur, Clarke and Centerville. The winner between the Golden Hawks and Spartans will advance to the second round of regionals to take on the winner of PCM and Chariton.
