Drought conditions in Iowa increased with 2.5% more of the state effected than last week.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor just over 45% of Iowa is abnormally dry, up from a week ago. The rate of moderate drought remained unchanged at 1.3% in south central Iowa. All of Washington, Keokuk, Jefferson, Henry, and Louisa Counties are abnormally dry at this time. Also, the northern portions of Iowa and Johnson Counties are abnormally dry.

The state with the most severe drought conditions right now is North Dakota with less than a tenth of a percent not experiencing dry conditions. North Dakota is rated at 25% in extreme drought, 47% in severe drought, and 67% in moderate drought.
