The post for Washington County’s own Emergency Management Coordinator has been filled and the public has a chance to meet Marissa Reisen at the Washington County Fair this week.

Reisen is a native of Muscatine and has a Master’s degree in emergency management. At the fair she has information about getting prepared ahead of time in case of a disaster, how to sign up for emergency text alerts, and how to create a three-day kit. She explains what a three-day kit should include food, water, flashlights, and more, “So, in the event of an emergency, the government has said there’s a chance that if it’s real bad we aren’t going to be able to get to everyone for three days. So, you need to be able to be self reliant for three days.”

She’ll be at the fair intermittently, check out her booth for information and pamphlets. The KCII Big Red Radio is also on the fairgrounds all week for the Washington County Fair with live broadcasts.
