This past weekend the Washington Archery team traveled to Orlando, Florida, to compete in the 8th Annual 3D Worlds National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Tournament.

Seven archers made the trip to Orlando after they qualified for the event by placing 30th as a team at Nationals back in May. At worlds Washington finished with a team score of 1637 and finished 21st out of 35 teams. Leading the way for the Demons was Samantha Mellinger shooting a 285 and placing 10th out of 154 high school girls. The freshman holds a promising future as she posted the third-best score out of 48 ninth graders. Bryan Martin scored a 281 placing 24th out of 263 middle school boys. Cooper Reed was right behind with a 280 placing 26th in the middle school boys division. Rounding out the scoring for the Demons was Maggie Morgan with 267, Kylee Porter with 264, and James Zabel and Griffin Wood tying with 260.

Washington was one of two schools from Iowa to make the trip and teams from all around the country and Canada were eligible for the event.
