The Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer team received recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their play in 2017.

IMS and head coach Marcus Miller were awarded the National High School Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award. To qualify, a team cannot receive any red cards during the season. There are four levels at which a team is recognized. Platinum, where a team doesn’t receive a single card all year, Gold where a team has a percentage of yellow cards between 1-10%, Silver where the percentage of yellow cards are between 11-30% and Bronze where the percentage falls between 31-50%. IMS was honored at the Silver level, receiving just two yellow cards all year, finishing with an 11.76% mark. IMS was one of two schools from Iowa to be honored, along with Des Moines Lincoln who was also a silver award winner. This is the second straight year Iowa Mennonite has received the award.
