Sunrise Child Care approached the Wellman City Council about expanding their facility.

Sunrise Child Care Director Melissa Kaufman explained that she has seen changes with the daycare over the three years she has been director and feels the center has a great impact on the community. Kaufman says the daycare is willing to pay the city $100 a month to lease the space in Parkside Activities Center that formerly housed the Wellman Mid-Prairie preschool, which now is being housed in Mid-Prairie West Elementary. Kaufman pointed out security concerns if the space was rented to someone else, given the two adjoining spaces share a door. Council member Robert Goodrich motioned to allow Sunrise to use the extra space for one year, only pay for utilities, and for the council to revisit after one year. The motion carried.
