Soon kids will be busy climbing, swinging and sliding on new playground equipment during recess at Stewart Elementary School.

Recently a new playground was installed at the Washington school and principal Adam Miller says many hands pitched in on the pre-school and elementary project, “We had a great deal of volunteers that came and helped us with these projects. So it was a really good community and school event that everybody helped with.” Safety was a key component in the updates, including a new rubberized surface and a fence was installed around the school grounds to keep kids in. The project was funded in part by Stewart Boosters, Kiwanis, the school district, and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation.
