With a vote of 2-2, a resolution for a minor subdivision near Wellman was not approved at Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting.
The proposal for the Spence Subdivision at 1930 170th Street, Wellman, is for 2.44 acres to be subdivided and add another residence. The property is agricultural. At the meeting, concerns of a hog building on a neighboring piece of land were discussed and how it may impact the owner Mike Freel’s ability to expand in the future due to proximity to residential properties. County Attorney John Gish said it would be a civil matter. Seward and Yoder voted agains the subdivision and chairman Richard Young was absent, so the matter failed with the even vote. The supervisors plan to follow up with the Department of Natural Resources and may reconsider the subdivision resolution in the future.
