HLV (1-0) jumped out to an early 25-0 lead on WACO (0-1) Thursday night and never looked back as they cruised to a 67-20 victory to open up the season.
HLV had their way running the ball and capitalizing on three first quarter rushing touchdowns to break out to a comfortable 25-0 lead. Desperate to get back in the game, WACO found success through the air when Nik Coble connected with Drew Kissell for a 68-yard touchdown. Later Will Edeker showed off his arm by completing a 29-yard touchdown pass to Elijah McGhoan.
The HLV rushing attack proved to be too much however, racking up four more touchdowns en route to 362 yards on the ground. Chase Sternhagen carried the load reaching pay dirt four times on 110 yards. WACO’S Coble finished the night 10-for-23 through the air for 129 yards and a touchdown. Jalen Collins rushed for 57 yards on seven carries and a touchdown.
WACO seeks their first win next week when they travel to Twin Cedars.
