This year it looks like the road to the state cross country championships not only goes through Fort Dodge, but also through Wellman, Kalona and West Chester.
In the latest polls from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks are ranked No. 1 in the state in both the boys and girls edition of the poll. This is the first time in school history Mid-Prairie has received this recognition. Along with the top spot in the team poll the Golden Hawk girls own the top two spots in the individual poll with senior Anna Hostetler ranked first in the state, followed by her sister Marie second.
On the boys side the Golden Hawks enjoy the top team spot and also have four individuals ranked, led by Peyton Miller at No. 9. Other Golden Hawks in the top 30 include Zach Pettit 10th, Floyd Evans 12th, and Marshal Teets 26th.
The Mid-Prairie boys and girls will both be in action Saturday at Pella.
