Corn is reaching maturity and soybeans are dropping leaves as farmers across Iowa prepare for harvest.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 70% of corn in southeast Iowa has reached the dent stage and 21% is mature. Soybeans in southeast Iowa are on track with the rest of the state with 44% coloring and seven percent have dropped leaves. Overall, Iowa’s corn crop is rated at 27% fair and 60% good to excellent, while soybeans are 26% fair and 61% good to excellent.
