Neighboring schools of Sigourney and Keota met on the volleyball court Monday and the Savages claimed bragging rights with a four-set win.
It was the Eagles that jumped all over the Savages early by stealing the first set 25-18. Sigourney let the rust from a 10-day layoff subside, as they claimed the next three sets 25-22, 25-18, and 25-8. The comeback was in part by Sloane Magill, who paced the Savages offensively with 20 kills. Leah Carter added 33 assists and Brooke Waechter notched up 12 digs.
Olivia Sieren and Addison Sprouse had three kills each for the Eagles. Sieren also was everywhere defensively with 15 digs, and Lauren Imhoff added 13. Jillian Schulte had five assists, three blocks, and connected on 10 of her 11 serves, with one ace.
With the win, the Savages improve to 2-3, as the Eagles drop to 0-7. Both schools hit the road Thursday as Sigourney travels to Belle Plaine and Keota travels to Iowa Valley.
