Iowa’s drought conditions increased slightly from last week to this week.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 6.7% of Iowa is now in moderate drought and 27.2% of the state is abnormally dry. The dry conditions are found in southeast Iowa. All of Washington and Keokuk Counties are abnormally dry, while most of Louisa, Iowa, Johnson and Jefferson Counties are abnormally dry with small areas of moderate drought. Henry County is mostly in moderate drought. At this time last year, 14.7% of Iowa was abnormally dry and there were no moderate drought conditions.
