Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and whether you accidentally burn the turkey or don’t have plans for the day, the Holy Trinity Church in Richmond welcomes all community members to their free Thanksgiving dinner.
Event organizer Sandra Marner says this is the seventh year of the event, “Several years ago our church community got together and we were discussing ways we can serve our community better and this was just one of the ways that we talked about. And it took off, and we’ve all really enjoyed serving our community and serving the dinner. We have a good attendance so we keep moving along.” Average attendance for the dinner is around 150 people.
Marner says leftovers from the meal are usually sent home with the visitors, and though donations are unsolicited, the church gives them to HACAP or the Kalona Food Pantry. The dinner will be served Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Richmond. For information on delivery or carryout call 319-656-3276.
