Nearly three-quarters of Iowa is experiencing drought conditions at this time.
According to data released this week, 71% of Iowa is abnormally dry and 8.1% is in moderate drought. Moderate drought is in the northeast half of Johnson County, the southeast corner of Jefferson County, and nearly all of Henry County. There are also portions of Iowa and Louisa Counties with moderate drought. All of Washington County is abnormally dry, as is Keokuk County. At this time last year only 13.9% of Iowa was abnormally dry.
