A bond up to $10.5 million will have a public hearing in Washington County.
The Washington County Board of Supervisors set the public hearing for January 30th at 9:30 a.m. as the first item on their agenda that day. County Auditor Dan Widmer explained the measure at Tuesday’s supervisors meeting, “The county proposes to enter into a loan agreement in a principal amount not to exceed $10,500,000, and it’s for essential county purposes of acquiring emergency services communication equipment. Not to exceed ,that doesn’t mean that necessarily that it’s going to be $10.5 million.” This amount is just for the essential equipment, not a building.
Congressman Dave Loebsack (D) visited the facility last weekend and did a ride-along with the sheriff’s office. He recommended applying for a USDA grant to help offset the costs, and mentioned he’d be willing to write a letter of support.
