A new member was appointed to the Washington County Conservation Board (WCCB) at their recent meeting.
Washington County Supervisor Stan Stoops was appointed to fill the vacant seat left by Lyle Moen. Stoops has attended WCCB meetings in the past as a county supervisor liaison, and he considers himself a conservationist, “One of the things that appeals to me about the conservation board itself is the caution that those board members use in spending taxpayers’ money. They are very conscientious, I like that and I like to be apart of that.”
After discussions with County Attorney John Gish, it was clarified that Stoops can serve as a board member, but he cannot vote on matters of the budget. Stoops says he has no specific goals for Washington County Conservation but he looks forward to serving with the board.
