The Washington boys’ basketball team returns home tonight when they welcome first-year program Iowa City Liberty to town.

This is the second meeting for these two schools this season, with the Lightning coming out on top last month 61-49. The Demons (5-10) are coming off of a tough 53-51 loss to Keokuk on Friday. After an injury to season leading scorer Jack Redlinger last week, Cale Hobscheidt and Blake Hartzler have stepped up in his absence. Hobscheidt had a career-high 28 points in Thursday’s win over Keota and Hartzler kept the Demons in Friday’s game with 17 points. Iowa City Liberty (5-12) is currently on a six-game losing skid including losing their last two by a combined six points. Andre Brandon leads the Lightning with 16 points and six boards a game. The sophomore also leads the team in assists with 29 and steals with 31.

The non-conference matchup gets started at 8 p.m. tonight at Washington High School. Tune into 106.1 FM KCII to listen to all of the coverage starting at 7:30 with the Washington HyVee pregame show.
