The No. 13 ranked Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer team got their year underway Tuesday with a 3-1 home victory over Holy Trinity Catholic.
It was IMS that got on the board first on a goal from near midfield off the foot of Isaiah Swantz in the 19th minute. HTC would tie the game on a corner kick header goal in the 30th minute and that’s where things stood at the half. In the second half it was Swantz again who had it dialed in from distance, on a free kick opportunity from near midfield he beat the keeper to give IMS the lead at 2-1 in the 60th minute.
Jacob Boller added an insurance goal for IMS in the 75th minute to put the game out of reach. With the win, IMS is now 1-0 on the season and will next be in action tomorrow when they travel to West Burlington, Notre Dame.
