The City of Washington’s annual spring cleanup begins Monday.
Residents should place their spring cleaning items out with their usual trash day. Recyclable materials like glass, paper, plastic, metal and cardboard should be in separate piles. All loose items must be in a cardboard box. There is a 100-pound limit per household for carpet and construction materials. Some items require a sticker be purchased at City Hall. Appliances like refrigerators, air conditioners, and microwaves must have a $20 sticker to be picked up. Also, $6 stickers are needed for desks, mattresses, sofas, and other bulky items. Certain items will not be collected, including waste oil, concrete, paint, batteries, and tires. For all of the regulations click here.
