A seven-year-old was hit by a car in Kalona and taken to the hospital by helicopter Wednesday.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 4:33 p.m. a Chevrolet Traverse driven by 42-year-old Lynette Wilson of New London was eastbound on Highway 22 when it struck the child who was on a bicycle. The wreck happened at the intersection of Highway 22 and 6th Street. Kalona First Responders, Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Washington County Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol, and Kalona Fire Department all assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
